CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State track & field's Destiny Dawson took 9th place in the women's javelin earning second-team All-American honors on Thursday at the NCAA Track & Field National Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene.
A redshirt junior from Cottage Grove, Ore., Dawson set the Oregon State record throwing 171-7 in the finals of the javelin. She becomes just the second student-athlete in OSU's history to All-American in the javelin at the NCAA Championships.
Dawson punched her ticket into the finals with a throw of 170-3 in her final attempt of three throws, which would have broken her previous school record of 168-11 had she not qualified for the finals.
