The Oregon State Beavers entered spring practices with just three scholarship quarterbacks, but will be adding another talented arm this summer.
On Tuesday evening, former Newbury Park High School standout and Compton quarterback Daniel Prieto accepted a preferred walk-on spot.
"I told Coach McGiven that I am 100% committed to them. I will be going out to the spring game," he said. "And I plan to be out there in the summer because that's when coach (Kevin) McGiven said he wanted me out there so I can get in the weight program."
As a senior at Newbury Park, the 6-foot, 173-pound signal-caller threw for 3,687 yards and 47 touchdowns with just five interceptions to earn Daily News Offensive Player of the Year.
