Oregon State quarterback Seth Collins rushed for 152 yards and threw two touchdown passes on Friday to lead the Beavers to a 26-7 victory over Weber State at Reser Stadium in the opening game of the Gary Andersen coaching era.
The first true freshman quarterback to start a game since David Moran in 1996, Collins threw the initial touchdown pass of his career, a 4-yard hookup with Victor Bolden, to give the Beavers a 13-0 lead with 6:47 remaining in the third quarter.
Then, after Weber State had drawn within 13-7 on an interception return, Collins led the Beavers to a field goal and a touchdown on their next two drives to clinch the win.
