CHICAGO – Bob Coleman reached the championship quarterfinals of the Ken Kraft Midlands Championships highlighting the weekend for a small contingent of Beavers who made the trip.
The Beavers had just four entries into the two-day tournament; Kegan Calkins (133 pounds), Devan Turner (133 pounds), Conner Noonan (141 pounds) and Coleman (184 Pounds).
Coleman opened the tournament with a 9-4 decision over Penn's Jalen Laughlin, before using an 11-4 decision over Kendall Elfstrum of Princeton reaching the quarterfinals. The Hermiston, Ore. native lost a tight match to Jackson Hemauer (Fresno State) by decision 4-2, and fell in the next consolation match by major decision.
