CORVALLIS — Chad Kauha'aha'a is not shy about detailing his ultimate career aspirations.
Someday, the Oregon State assistant wants to be a defensive coordinator. And in order to reach that goal, he needed to broaden his view to gain a deeper knowledge of the entire unit.
So Kauha'aha'a has stepped back from the trenches. He's moved from coaching the defensive line — the only position group he'd previously led throughout his college career — to the outside linebackers, where starting this spring he's tag-teaming with new coordinator Kevin Clune to improve the middle portion of a defense that sputtered greatly a season ago.
