Canzano: Oregon State football's biggest sin is under center

LOS ANGELES -- Oregon State stunk on Saturday. It played dumb. Special teams was a tangled mess. And OSU was as imaginative as a glass of water on offense.

All true.

And all of them sins.

But none of those was the Beavers' biggest one. Because college football is a quarterback-driven game and Oregon State made the trip without a competent one. The resulting 38-10 loss to USC will be explained in a variety of ways, all of them sad, aggravating and frustrating. But without a competent signal caller I don't know how anyone expects OSU to win a game.
