TEMPE, Ariz. – Junior McKenzie Byrd and redshirt sophomore Vanessa D'Arpino each broke school records Saturday at the Sun Angel Classic at Arizona State.
Byrd's opening throw of 150-9.25 in the javelin smashed her former school record (144-3), set at the 2016 Pacific-12 Conference Championships, by more than six feet. She placed seventh overall to lead OSU's impressive contingent in that event.
And D'Arpino won her section and tied for second in the premier 200 meters in 23.82, breaking her school mark by .01 seconds. It is the second time this season she's broken the school record; she ran 23.
