The Case For Shelton: An All-Pac-8 first-team selection in 1975 for Oregon State, the late, great Lonnie Shelton (he passed in early July of this year) defined everything that it meant to be apart of the Beavers basketball program. A powerful, 6’ 8”, 240-pound forward, Shelton averaged 16.2 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game for Oregon State, before embarking on a ten-year NBA career, where he snagged an All-Star nod in 1982 and an NBA Championship in 1979 with the Seattle SuperSonics.
The Case For Gambee: A Portland native, another forward in 6’ 7” Dave Gambee could also be considered as one of Oregon State’s top players ever, as he dominated for the Beavers on both the hardwood and the baseball diamond during his time in Corvallis.
