Another Oregon State pitcher is getting a shot at the big leagues. Bryant Salgado heard his name called Tuesday morning, with the Houston Astros picking up the Beaver reliever in the 14th round of the 2021 MLB Draft with the 418th overall pick.
Salgado is the third Beaver selected in this year’s draft. All three have been pitchers, with Kevin Abel headed to Cincinnati and Chase Watkins joining the Cubs. Salgado has only spent one year with Oregon State, but looked impressive in his 23 appearances in 2021.
