CORVALLIS -- Brandon Arnold's mind usually goes quiet when he's locked in on a play.
But this spring has been different for the Oregon State senior safety. Because he's always aware of new position coach John Rushing.
"You can hear him like he's right next to you," Arnold said. "When you're out there, you usually can't hear people because you're zoned in. But somehow, I can hear him right next to (me), when I hear him start yelling if I did something wrong or if he wants me to pick something up."
Arnold is gladly taking all the coaching he can absorb this spring, because his continued development is key for a new-look Beavers secondary and entire defense aiming to build on last season's improvements.
