ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. Olivia Benzin was very impressive in her first collegiate tournament.

A freshman from Tacoma, Wash., who has Gary Payton listed as her favorite athlete on her bio, Benzin led the Oregon State women’s golf team with a tie for 54th place at the Beavers’ first tournament of the 2015-16 season, which concluded Tuesday.

Benzin carded a 10-over 229 at the two-day, 54-hole Dick McGuire Invitational, including a solid 1-over 74 in the final round at the par-73, 6,315-yard Championship Golf Course at the University of New Mexico. She was steady throughout, dropping two birdies on the final day after getting one in each of the first two rounds.
