ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Oregon State women’s golf team is in 17th place after the opening day of the Dick McGuire Invitational on Monday with 18 holes remaining.
The Beavers, playing in their first tournament of the season, played 36 holes shooting a 20-over 312 in the first round at the par-73, 6,315-yard Championship Golf Course at the University of New Mexico and a 29-over 321 in the afternoon. Stanford built a commanding lead after carding an 18-under 281, 285--66, while Northwestern is second with a 6-under 578.
Freshman Olivia Benzin led the Beavers on day one after a pair of solid rounds, carding a 3-over 76 in the morning and a 6-over 79 in the afternoon.
