CORVALLIS – The Oregon State men's soccer team is off to a hot start in its spring season, earning victories in three-straight contests, including winning the Northwest Cup.

The Beavers topped Portland 2-1 in the opening match of the Northwest Cup, which was held at Portland's Merlo Field. Don Tchilao opened the scoring in the second half, dribbling around a pair of Pilot defenders in the box, before slotting the ball past the goalkeeper. Oregon State doubled its advantage a short time later, as newcomer Gloire Amanda got on the scoresheet. Joel Walker set up the score with a cross from the right side, setting up Amanda's header from the edge of the six-yard box.
