EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon State volleyball team (1-0) got the 2019 season on the right foot sweeping UC Irvine (0-1) in the first match of the Oregon Classic.
The Beavers won by scores of 25-12, 25-22 and 25-11 to earn their fourth straight season-opening win under fourth-year head coach Mark Barnard.
Oregon State came out to a strong start taking an early 12-5 lead over the Anteaters as freshman outside hitter Cecilee Max-Brown, who was making her collegiate debut, knocked down four kills in the initial surge. The Beavers continued to pour it on as Maddie Goings, who converted to the right side this season, recorded four kills on her first four attacks giving the Beavers a 20-8 lead.
