RIVERSIDE, Calif. – No. 25 Oregon State (14-3) collected two wins Friday on day one of the Amy S. Harrison Classic. The Beavers defeated Sacred Heart 8-0 (6) before turning around to beat co-host UC Riverside 9-1 (6), extending their winning streak to 11.
Oregon State's pitching staff of Mariah Mazon and Tarni Stepto combined to give up just one run (earned) on five hits over the two games. Stepto threw a one-hit, complete-game shutout in OSU's victory over Sacred Heart.
In the first game of the day, Stepto collected her fifth win of the season in the circle, going the complete six frames and surrendering no runs and one hit with one walk and 10 strikeouts.
