CORVALLIS -- After nine lead changes in the final 10 minutes, a deep three-pointer by Oregon to force overtime, and a four-point play by Oregon State that clinched the game, a fan wearing an OSU-orange sweater turned in her seat midway up Gill Coliseum's stands and stared into the rafters.
A hand over her heart, she feigned the jerks of a heart attack before showing a smile of relief.
Few gestures would be more apt to describe a game like Friday's.
"Epic game," Oregon State coach Scott Rueck said.
In the first women's basketball Civil War to require overtime in 11 years, the 18th-ranked Beavers upset seventh-ranked Oregon, 85-79, to hand the Ducks their first conference loss while delivering OSU the galvanizing, marquee win it has sought since allowing an upset of Notre Dame to slip away in November.
