Salt Lake City, Utah - Oregon State senior guard Gary Payton II and freshman forward Tres Tinkle scored 11 points each but Utah rallied to defeat the Beavers 59-53 on Sunday night in a Pacific-12 Conference game at the Huntsman Center.
Utah outscored OSU 7-1 down the stretch to pull away from a 52-52 tie.
OSU outscored the Utes 48-41 from the field, but Utah was 18 of 24 from the free-throw line while the Beavers had just 10 attempts.
Oregon State sprinted out to an 11-2 lead in the first half and pushed it to 21-8 thanks to three baskets apiece from junior guard Malcolm Duvivier and freshman guard Stephen Thompson Jr.
