BERKELEY, Calif. – Oregon State's annual Bay Area trip began by ending a streak that had threatened to derail its NCAA Tournament ambitions.
The trip ended with the re-emergence of the bad habits and inconsistency that put the team's collective back against the wall in the first place.
A victory Saturday would have marked the Beavers' first two-game sweep of a road series since 2009. But OSU fell behind from the game's opening basket and never captured a lead, ultimately falling to California 83-71.
The victory marked the Golden Bears' 17th in a row at Haas Pavilion, an indication of the talented but up-and-down group's prowess on its home floor.
