A different vibe: Oregon State fighting for Cory Hall, normalcy amid surreal season

CORVALLIS -- Cory Hall never discussed victories when he was introduced as Oregon State interim football coach on Oct. 9, the day a disastrous season turned surreal.

"I think it's going to be my job to keep everybody together," he said, sitting next to athletic director Scott Barnes in a crowded press conference at the Valley Football Center.

More than three weeks have passed with Hall leading the Beavers after Gary Andersen mutually parted ways with the school after six games. They are 0-2 in that stretch, losing by four combined points.

Yet, even as wins have failed to come, players have been in virtual unison that life has become better in the days since several left their final meeting with Andersen in tears.
