It was another slow day at the office for Tres Tinkle in the 2021 NBA Summer League, as the former Beavers forward failed to score in just under four minutes of playing time on Wednesday night in a 91-82 defeat to the New York Knicks.
Tinkle previously hadn’t logged a minute in Los Angeles’ meeting with the Phoenix Suns on Sunday in the Lakers Las Vegas Summer League debut, after starting his Sacramento Summer League with a solid 7 points and 5 rebounds showing. While it’s unlikely that the Lakers will have a spot for him on their open NBA roster anyway come the fall, the opportunity for him to impress for another team (or for a spot on an NBA G-League roster) is currently not there if Tinkle doesn’t find minutes for the Los Angeles squad.
