In yet another defection from the University of Oregon track and field program, world-class sprinter Lauren Rain Williams has left the team.
Last month she was silver medalist in the 200 meters at the World Junior championships in Tampere, Finland,
Williams' departure was confirmed by UO athletic department spokesman Nate Krueger.
Williams had a strong freshman season for Oregon in 2018, clocking the fifth-fastest 200 time in school history of 22.51 seconds. She ranks 10th on the school's career list in the 100 with a time of 11.29.
She earned an All-American award for being part of the Ducks' second-place 4x100 team at the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
