It didn’t take a a deep statistical analysis to see that this year’s women’s basketball team struggled to put points on the board. This was the phase of the game that takes the lions share of the blame for the team’s disappointing 2-16 record in Pac-12 play.
Just looking at the team rankings for the 2023-2024 season paints a grim picture. Oregon was dead last in the Pac-12 in points per game, field goal attempts per game, field goals made per game, 3-point percentage, and free-throw percentage. Overall field goal percentage was 11th out of 12 teams, turnovers per game was 9th, and offensive rebounds per game was 8th.
