Wise Wins Australian Master of the Amateurs

BLACK ROCK, Australia – Oregon golf sophomore Aaron Wise won the Australian Master of the Amateurs Saturday at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club. Wise posted a four-round tally of 283 at the event to finish at 5-under for the week, two strokes better than runner-up Jonathan Thomson from the United Kingdom.

After a 5-under 67 in the tournament’s first round, Wise struggled to find the same groove Thursday, turning in a 77 to fall to even par.

On moving day, however, the sophomore would get back on track. Through six holes, Wise had converted four birdies and an eagle to get to 6-under for the round.
