EUGENE -- Five takeaways and two scores would ordinarily leave most defenses pleased with their performance, but Oregon came away frustrated with an aspect of its play in last week's 42-24 win at Cal.
Allowing Bears quarterback Brandon McIlwain to rush for 123 yards, including a 28-yard touchdown, on 15 carries and lead Cal to 241 yards on the ground, its best since having 311 yards against the Ducks in 2016, did not sit well with Oregon linebacker La'Mar Winston Jr.
On one hand, Oregon could've commit too much to rushing McIlwain and fellow quarterback Chase Garbers because of their ability to scramble and break long runs.
