A few thoughts about the current mess within USA Track & Field, in which the organization's board of directors is trying to clip the wings of its president, Vin Lananna.
The O's Jeff Manning broke the story last week. In it, board chairman Steve Miller said Lananna's conflicts of interest make him a poor fit as USATF president.
The main conflict is with TrackTown USA, the Eugene organizing committee that successfully has staged the 2008, 2012, and 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials, the 2014 World Junior Championships and the 2016 World Indoor Championships. Lananna was and remains TrackTown president.
