The Oregon beach volleyball team came close to a breakthrough ranked win but ultimately dropped four matches over the weekend at the Husky Invitational, falling to No. 19 FIU, No. 9 Long Beach State, and twice to No. 20 Washington. With the losses, the Ducks move to 5-16 on the season, including 10 defeats to ranked opponents.
In Friday’s opener, Oregon nearly secured the program’s second-ever victory over a ranked opponent but came up just short in a 3-2 loss to No. 19 Florida International. The Ducks jumped ahead with wins at the No. 1 and No. 4 pairs to take a 2-1 lead in the dual, but FIU rallied to claim the final two matches and secure the comeback.
