TUCSON, Ariz. – In his first decathlon since the 2019 NCAA Championships, redshirt sophomore Max Vollmer posted an NCAA-leading score of 7,695 points to win the two-day, 10-event competition at the Jim Click Multis. Teammates Nathan Poff—with a near 700-point PR—and Dalen Hargett finished sixth and ninth, respectively.
Entering the day in second place overall, Vollmer pulled to within nine points of the lead with the help of a personal best of 42.60m/139-9 in the discus. He replaced his previous best of 41.01m/134-6 from last week's Hayward Premiere. Vollmer took over the lead with another all-time best, this time a 5.
