HOLLYWOOD -- In the past two weeks, Utah coach Kyle Whittingham was persuaded that former Ducks receiver Darren Carrington has learned from his past mistakes, the latest of which was an arrest for DUII on July 1.
Still, Whittingham said that when Carrington officially joins the team, he'll be watched closely in Salt Lake City.
"With his missteps in the past that definitely puts him on a shorter leash, there's no doubt about it," Whittingham said.
The Utes coach described the addition of Carrington Thursday at Pac-12 media days in Hollywood as "always a tough decision when you talk about a player you're going to add to your program potentially who has a checkered past.
