Elliott Cook continued his standout postseason with a top time in the semifinal round of the 1500 meters on the first day of the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field. The Pac-12 champion earned the chance to compete in his first NCAA final in the event.
Cook was the fastest qualifier, clocking in at 3:37.25, a new personal best for the junior from the University of Oregon. He began the day with a previous best of 3:38.12 from last year’s USATF Los Angeles Grand Prix and had a season-best of 3:38.55 heading into the meet.
Redshirt freshman Rheinhardt Harrison narrowly missed advancing, finishing as the fastest non-qualifier.
