Kendall Martin and Katie Clute claimed victories on Friday at the OSU High Performance held at the Whyte Track and Field Center in Corvallis. The Men of Oregon were also in action, notably securing a fourth-place finish at the Penn Relays in the distance medley relay.
Martin achieved an impressive feat by shaving more than nine seconds off her personal best, clocking a time of 10:30.53 to win the invitational section of the steeplechase. Originally from Zionsville, Ind., Martin had previously run 10:40.05 at the Oregon Preview on March 22. This marked only her third steeplechase race. During the penultimate water jump, Martin caught up with early leader Caroline Jerotich of Washington State and secured the lead shortly after the following hurdle.
