LAS VEGAS — As a kid, Janie Takeda Reed was "small and skinny," her mom remembers. Now, her legacy will loom large in Pac-12 Conference history for all time.
Takeda Reed, who helped Oregon softball win three conference titles and make three Women's College World Series appearances as a player with the Ducks from 2012-15, was inducted Friday into the Pac-12's Hall of Honor. An Olympic silver medalist with Team USA in 2021, Takeda Reed was inducted as part of the hall's first all-female class, in recognition of the 50th anniversary of Title IX's passing.
Still Oregon's all-time leader in hits (309), runs (204) and stolen bases (102), Takeda Reed is among the first softball players inducted into the Pac-12's Hall of Honor.
