HILLSBORO, Ore. — Playing just a few miles from his hometown of Portland, freshman left-hander Cole Stringer pitched into the eighth and allowed just two runs Monday, earning the win in Oregon’s 5-2 nonconference victory over San Diego before 885 at Ron Tonkin Field.
How It Happened: Stringer (pictured above in a start earlier this season) earned his second win in six days, after going two scoreless in a victory over Oregon State this past Wednesday. He allowed seven hits and two walks, leaving after a walk and a double by the Toreros with nobody out in the eighth inning.
