EUGENE, Ore. — The 100th anniversary of Oregon’s first Rose Bowl team will be celebrated when the UO football team takes the field Saturday for its annual spring game.
The two teams that will match up in Autzen Stadium and on Pac-12 Networks at 11 a.m. — “Webfoots” and “Mighty Oregon” — will wear true throwbacks, to the 1916 season that ended with the Ducks beating Penn in the Rose Bowl, 14-0. Until 1925, the football team wore blue, yellow and white, which will be reflected in the uniforms worn Saturday. Those original school colors were derived from the state flag.
