Sources: 76ers' Ben Simmons leaving NBA bubble for knee surgery

Philadelphia 76ers All-Star Ben Simmons is leaving the NBA bubble to undergo surgery to remove a loose body in his left knee, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

While the Sixers haven't ruled Simmons out for the season, sources told Wojnarowski, it would take a deep run into the playoffs to keep the door open on the possibility of a return.

Simmons suffered a subluxation of his left patella during the third quarter of Wednesday's 107-98 victory over the Washington Wizards. A subluxation of the patella means that the kneecap popped out of place but returned on its own.
