George Horton has been offered a multiyear contract to remain as head coach of the Oregon baseball program, a source with knowledge of the situation told The Oregonian/OregonLive on Monday.
Horton's current contract with the Ducks is set to expire on Sept. 10.
While details of the contract offered to Horton are few, the source indicated it's for less money than his expiring deal, which guarantees the coach at least $540,000 this year.
The source said the athletic department is now waiting to see whether or not Horton will accept the deal.
The 63-year-old coach was hired at Oregon in 2007 to help restore a program that was discontinued in Eugene in 1981.
