EUGENE – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association has named Oregon closer Kolby Somers to its midseason Stopper of the Year watch list.
Somers, a senior from Hillsboro, Ore. who claimed first-team All-Pac-12 Conference honors and NCBWA All-America honors last season, has continued his stellar work as the Ducks' stopper for the second straight season. The lefty is 4-2 on the season and leads the Pac-12 Conference with seven saves. He has a 2.78 ERA in 18 appearances and has allowed just seven earned runs in 22.2 innings pitched with 29 strikeouts and 11 walks.
