A few things ...
-- The second day of the Portland Track Festival unfolds today at Lewis & Clark College.
This is a meet with a relaxed atmosphere and some very big names. It's a hidden jewel if you're a fan of the mid-distances and distances.
Today is the better of the two days. Things get underway at 1:30 p.m. The high performance events start at 3:20 p.m. with the first heat of the women's 800 meters.
Here is the schedule for today's events.
The top section of the men's 800 -- which features Craig Engels and Olympic gold medalist Matthew Centrowitz of the Nike Oregon Project, Drew Windle, Boris Berian and 2016 Olympian Charles Jock -- and the men's 1,500 -- with two-time Olympian Lopez Lomong and Ryan HIll of the Bowerman Tack Club, Chad Noelle, Garrett Heath and Mexican record-holder Daniel Herrera of HIgh Performance West -- look spectacular.
