The weekend wins by the Oregon State and Oregon women's basketball teams have cemented a historic first for the state.
The 2018 NCAA Tournament marks the first time the Beavers and Ducks have both earned Elite Eight berths in the same season. UO qualified Sunday with a 83-68 victory over Central Michigan, one day after OSU beat Baylor 72-67.
With the two teams on opposite sides of the 64-team bracket, an all-Oregon matchup could only take place in the national title game.
Oregon State has now reached the Elite Eight two of the last three seasons under coach Scott Rueck, the only times the program has reached that stage of the postseason.
