Shane Lemieux left 'Cougar country' for Oregon, where he'll help lead O-line vs. Washington State

EUGENE -- Shane Lemieux grew up in Yakima, Wash. - "Cougar country," as the Oregon offensive lineman puts it.

While Washington signed eight of the top 20 in-state players in 2015, Washington State got just one, in part thanks to Lemieux and fellow Oregon offensive lineman and Bellevue, Wash. native Calvin Throckmorton choosing the Ducks over the Cougars and other Pac-12 teams.

"Washington State wasn't very good when I was in high school," Lemieux said. "I don't know why I (didn't) have a UW offer, but I wouldn't go there anyway. ... (I) want to win a national championship.
