Glendale, Arizona - After playing in their first Conference Championship game, quarterback Brock Purdy and the Iowa State Cyclones entered the contest looking to win in their first-ever New Year’s Six game. Oregon, on the other hand, looked to add to their 2-0 Fiesta Bowl record, which consisted of the 2002 victory over Colorado and the 2013 victory over Kansas State.
The Cyclones struck first with a Breece Hall one-yard touchdown run to cap off a 15-play, 75-yard drive that ate through the first half of the opening quarter. However, Tyler Shough led the Ducks methodically down to the ISU red zone, where grad-transfer quarterback entered the game and scored a six-yard rushing touchdown on his first play of the game.
