Reedsport High School graduate Monica Vaughn was tied for third place heading to the final round of stroke play in the NCAA Women's Golf Championship in Sugar Grove, Illinois.
Vaughn, a senior at Arizona State, played in the morning wave of Sunday's second round and shot an even-par 72 to enter the final round at 2 over. She will begin the final round two shots behind leader Jennifer Kupcho, a Wake Forest junior, and one shot behind Purdue senior August Kim.
Vaughn could become the sixth Arizona State golfer to win an NCAA individual title and first since Azahara Munoz in 2008.
