Entering the game, Chase Garbers was on pace as one of the better signal-callers in the Pac-12 and was on pace for a big night against Arizona State. In the first half, he was 12 for 14 through the air before an awkward fall ended his night. He was seen after halftime in a pretty hefty sling on his right throwing arm and did not return for the second half. Following the game Head Coach, Herm Edwards said he would be re-evaluated on Monday.
Without Garbers, California struggled on offense with backup Devon Modster who mustered just 23 yards of offense through the air.
