The #12 seed Oregon Ducks (25-13, 10-8) had their ten-game winning streak snapped by the #1 seed Virginia Cavaliers (32-3, 16-2) in the Sweet Sixteen. It was a defensive battle that came down to the final minutes, but in the end the Cavaliers’ defense held strong for the 53 to 49 victory.
FIRST HALF
Louis King hit the games opening shot, a nothing-but-net triple, but Virginia scored the next seven points and shut down Oregon’s offense for nearly six minutes. Payton Pritchard ended the drought with a layup after missing a couple free throws moments earlier, then Ehab Amin once again gave the team a boost off the bench by tying things up, 7-7, at the 13:04 mark.
