EUGENE -- Oregon's Ruthy Hebard, last year's winner of the Katrina McClain award as the nation's top power forward, was named to the preseason watch list for the award this season
Hebard, who averaged 17.6 points and 9.0 rebounds per game last season, is among 20 players on the preseason watch list announced by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association on Thursday.
The candidate list, which can be changed throughout the season, will be narrowed to 10 players in mid-February and five finalists will be presented to McClain-Pittman and the Hall of Fame's selection committee in March.
