Former UK Athletics chief executive Niels de Vos has been appointed to head Oregon21, the Eugene-based organizing committee planning the 2021 World Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the rebuilt Hayward Field in Eugene.
Oregon21 announced DeVos' hire on Friday.
De Vos spent the past 10 years at UK Athletics, Britain's governing body for track and field. He was championships director of the 2017 World Outdoor Track & Field Championships in London and the 2018 World Indoor Championships in Birmingham, England.
He will replace Kathy Herrmann who has been serving as interim executive director since Vin Lananna stepped down in July.
