The Oregon Ducks hold their only home meet of the regular season today at Hayward Field, and many of Oregon's top athletes will sit it out.
I don't blame the Ducks for this. They have next week's Pac-12 Championships to think about.
The problem is the fumbled start to the renovation of Hayward Field, which was supposed to be about halfway done now and hasn't started.
The renovation is needed to bring Hayward up to specs for the 2021 World Outdoor Championships. But the people at TrackTown USA and the UO Foundation apparently haven't been able to line up the estimated $68 million necessary to get the job done.
