EUGENE -- With a logjam of personnel ahead of him on the depth chart, Steven Jones thought he was going to redshirt, but the Oregon freshman offensive tackle still prepared to play.
It was a good thing the 6-foot-7, 375-pound Jones was ready last week, when he had to take over at left tackle against UCLA following Jake Hanson's ejection for targeting, and Oregon will call on him again this week with Hanson out for the first half against Utah.
"Once he settled in he did what we really felt he could do; he played with power, he played with poise, with balance," Oregon coach Mario Cristobal said.
