Oregon practice observations: CJ Verdell among those absent

EUGENE -- Oregon's leading running back was not at practice on Tuesday.

CJ Verdell, who injured his neck against Utah, was among the players not in attendance at the Moshofsky Center.

On Monday, Oregon coach Mario Cristobal was optimistic Verdell, who previously suffered a hip injury against Washington State, would be able to play against Arizona State on Saturday (7:30 p.m., Pac-12 Network).

Verdell leads the Ducks with 151 carries for 718 yards and five touchdowns.

Running backs Tony Brooks-James and Travis Dye took carries with during early periods. Cyrus Habibi-Likio, who suffered a contusion to his right leg, was dressed out in full pads.
