On Monday, Comcast Sportsnet Northwest was the first to report that Quarterback Travis Jonsen was leaving Oregon. The reason is simple. Jonsen believes the race for Starter concluded at the end of Spring Practice and he has no chance to beat out the incumbent in Justin Herbert.
Willie Taggart said following the Spring Game that Herbert had some work to do over the summer to earn the Starting Role at Quarterback. He did not name a Starter when asked.
Jonsen was a former 4-Star Recruit under Head Coach Mark Helfrich. According to Aaron Fentress, Travis Jonsen had to be talked out of leaving before Spring Camp.
