With the determined Lilli Burdon running from in front on the anchor leg, the Oregon Ducks claimed the women's distance medley relay Friday on the first day of the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Burdon held the lead down the home stretch of the final lap despite a hard challenge from Stanford's Christina Aragon to bring the Ducks across the finish line in 10 minutes, 51.99 seconds at the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium in College Station Texas.
Stanford was second in 10:52.02.
Burdon took the baton for the relay's 1,600-meter leg in second, but quickly claimed the lead.
